Before starting, ensure the vehicle is turned off, cooled down, and parked on a flat surface. Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
Removing the Old Throttle Body
Locate the throttle body, usually between the air intake and the intake manifold. Disconnect the air intake hose and any electrical connectors attached to the throttle body.
Use the appropriate tools to remove mounting bolts. Carefully detach the throttle body from the intake manifold, taking care not to damage any surrounding components.
Installing the New Throttle Body
Position the new throttle body in place and hand-tighten the mounting bolts. Use a torque wrench to tighten bolts to manufacturer specifications, ensuring a secure fit.
Reconnect electrical connectors and the air intake hose. Double-check all connections for security.
Adjusting the Throttle Body
Start the engine and let it idle. Use a scan tool or multimeter to check the throttle position sensor (TPS) readings. Adjust the TPS screw if necessary, following the vehicle’s service manual instructions.
Ensure the throttle plate opens and closes smoothly without sticking. Recheck the idle speed and make adjustments if needed to meet manufacturer specifications.
Final Checks and Testing
After adjustments, clear any error codes with a scan tool. Test drive the vehicle to observe throttle response and engine behavior. Confirm that the engine runs smoothly and that all systems operate correctly.
